Helleborus liguricus

Helleborus liguricus refers to a recently described population of plants in
northern Italy--not far from the coast in Liguria and Tuscany. The leaves of H.
liguricus are not as heavily segmented, and have broader leaf divisions than
other Italian plants (e.g. H. bocconei, H. abruzzicus). One of the exciting things
about these plants is that the large flowers are very pale white-ish green, even
white, and are held well above the foliage, but perhaps the greatest attribute is
the relatively strong and sweet fragrance the flowers produce. The degree to
which the leaves and flower stalks are frost hardy is still unknown, but late
blooming plants from higher elevations would be good candidates for testing
hardiness..
